Nightclubs Open in Winter in Mallorca: What's Still Open from October to March

Nightclubs open in winter in Mallorca in Palma Events

Yes: in Mallorca there are nightclubs open all year round, but out of season the night is concentrated on Friday and Saturday and in Palma, not in the tourist areas. From October to March the crowd becomes local, the queues disappear and tickets come down — a Friday session at Sala Luna starts at 15 euros, from midnight to 6am. The big nights of the winter are Halloween, the Immaculate Conception long weekend, Christmas, New Year's Eve and Sant Antoni.

The same thing happens every year from October onwards. The island empties out, half of Playa de Palma shuts up shop until May, and the question comes up: Is anything still open, or is there nothing until spring?

The short answer is that yes, there are still nightclubs open in Mallorca in winter, but they work in a different way. The long answer is this page, which is the one we would have liked to have when someone writes to us on a Tuesday in November asking where they can go out on Friday. Here you'll find which venues are still working, which nights of the week there is genuinely something on, which dates really fill up between October and March, and how it differs from a night in August. No dressing it up: in winter there is less on offer, and knowing where it is is exactly what saves you walking in circles.

Do nightclubs in Mallorca close in winter?

Not all of them. The venues in the tourist areas — Playa de Palma, El Arenal, Magaluf — cut back sharply or close outright between November and April, because their crowd is the seasonal tourist. The venues in Palma city, on the other hand, stay open all year, because their crowd is the resident, who isn't going anywhere.

That's the key that explains everything else. In summer, Mallorca has two nightlife circuits operating simultaneously: one for tourists and one for locals. In winter, only the latter remains. That's why the feeling that "there's nothing going on" is misleading: there are fewer places, yes, but those that remain are just as packed, and with locals.

Which venues in Palma open out of season, and on which nights?

The nightclubs open in winter in Mallorca are concentrated on the Paseo Marítimo and in Santa Catalina, and they compress their activity into Friday and Saturday. The big venues that open almost daily in summer drop to two nights a week, and the ones in the beach areas are left for key dates.

The complete page for each one — address, capacity, music, minimum age — is in the guide to all the nightclubs in Mallorca. The minimum age is 18 years in all cases and a valid document is required, even in winter.

Which nights of the week are there parties in Mallorca during winter?

It's Friday that holds up the winter in Palma. It's the only one with a fixed weekly programme: Lunáticos at Sala Luna runs every Friday, from midnight to 6am and from 15 euros. On Saturday there is activity in the Paseo Marítimo venues, and the rest of the week depends on a key date or a long weekend falling.

Put another way: from October to March, on any given Wednesday in Palma there is no nightclub open, and on a Thursday only if something is programmed. It isn't a gap in the listings, it's how the island works out of season. What does change the map completely is a public holiday falling: a Sunday before a public holiday behaves like a Saturday in Palma. That's why the calendar below matters more in winter than in summer.

Calendar of parties from October to March in Mallorca

These are the dates that genuinely fill the venues between October and March. The public holidays are taken from the 2026 public holiday calendar of the Govern de les Illes Balears:

DateDay of the weekWhy it fills up
October 10-12, 2026Saturday to MondayPilar long weekend: first long weekend after the season
Saturday, October 31SaturdayHalloween, the biggest night of autumn
December 5-8Saturday to TuesdayImmaculate Conception long weekend
Thursday, December 24ThursdayChristmas Eve: have dinner with the family and then go out
Friday 25th and Saturday 26thFriday and SaturdayBoth public holidays in the Balearic Islands: two nights in a row
Thursday, December 31ThursdayNew Year's Eve, with January 1st a public holiday
January 16 and 17Saturday and SundaySant Antoni: the great popular festival of the Mallorcan winter
FebruaryVariableCarnival and Sa Rua in Palma

Two of those dates have their own guide, because they are the ones that are planned the furthest in advance: the Halloween parties on October 31st and New Year's Eve in Mallorca.

Sant Antoni deserves a note of its own because it isn't nightlife in the usual sense: it's the most deeply rooted popular festival of the Mallorcan winter, with foguerons and torrades in the villages on the night of the 16th, and it runs in parallel with the venues of Palma. The Consell de Mallorca and Mallorca Tourism Foundation publish the island's calendar of popular festivals every year.

How does going out in Palma change in winter compared to summer?

Four things change, and all of them benefit those who live here: the audience is local instead of tourist, queues disappear, ticket prices drop, and venues are no longer packed. What is lost is variety: there are fewer places open and fewer nights available.

It's a difference the people of the island know well and that surprises anyone coming from outside: the same nightclubs, a completely different night. In August, getting into a Paseo Marítimo venue on a Saturday can mean half an hour of queueing and a dance floor with no room to move. In November, the same venue on the same Saturday, you walk straight in and you can hold a conversation. It shows in the clothes too: in winter people dress up more, and in some Paseo Marítimo venues the doorman looks harder than he would in July at the same person in flip-flops.

Is there still an afternoon party scene in Mallorca in winter?

Yes, and it's probably the format that holds up best in the low season. The tardeo runs from 5pm to 10pm, so it doesn't depend on good weather or on staying up all night, and in winter it wins people over precisely because you go out and get back early. Sala Luna keeps its Friday afternoon party all year round.

For a lot of people in Palma the tardeo is the winter plan: the group meets at six, it's over by ten and you don't lose your Saturday. We have the comparison of every session in the guide to the best afternoon parties in Mallorca, with their times and their venues.

How to find out what's opening this week without wasting time

In winter, the program is confirmed with less advance notice than in summer, so the list of open venues changes from week to week. Here are four steps to avoid ending up improvising on a Friday at eleven o'clock at night:

  1. Check the day's listings before deciding on an area, not the other way around.
  2. Assume Friday is a done deal and confirm the rest. It's the only night with a fixed schedule.
  3. Buy in advance if it's a key date. In winter there is plenty of space except on Halloween, Christmas and New Year's Eve, which sell out just as quickly as in August.
  4. Check the specific venue, because in the off-season, the same venue might be open one weekend and not the next.

The quickest way is to consult directly what parties are on today in Mallorca, which is updated daily with the confirmed sessions and their ticket links.

When you WON'T find a party in Mallorca

  • Monday to Wednesday, out of season. Except on the eve of a public holiday, there is no nightclub session in Palma on those nights.
  • In tourist areas between November and April. El Arenal, Magaluf and a good part of Playa de Palma are closed; looking there is a waste of the night.
  • On Christmas Eve, before one o'clock. Everyone is having dinner; the venues start in the early hours.
  • Without checking the listings. In summer you can improvise because there's always something open. From October to March, not so much.

The autumn and winter sessions are confirmed week by week and published as soon as the line-up is closed. In the party plans in Mallorca from Palma Events you have every session of the nightclubs open in winter with its venue, its times and its ticket price, and the two big dates of the season — Halloween and New Year's Eve — with a page of their own. If you're going out this weekend, start with the day's listings and choose your area from there.

Frequently asked questions about partying in Mallorca in winter

Are there nightclubs open in Mallorca in November and December?

Yes, the ones in Palma city. The venues on the Paseo Marítimo and in Santa Catalina open all year round because their crowd is the resident, and they concentrate their activity on Friday and Saturday. The ones in the tourist areas — El Arenal, Magaluf and a good part of Playa de Palma — do close or cut back sharply between November and April, when there is no tourism to sustain them.

Which night of the week is best to go out in Palma in winter?

Friday. It's the only night with a fixed weekly programme through the whole low season: Lunáticos at Sala Luna runs every Friday from midnight to 6am, with tickets from 15 euros, and on that same day there is also an afternoon party from 5pm to 10pm. There is activity on the Paseo Marítimo on Saturday too, but it varies from week to week.

Is it cheaper to go out partying in Mallorca in winter?

Yes, generally. Out of season the nightclub tickets come down compared with the summer months and the surcharges of the highest-demand nights disappear. The exceptions are the key dates: Halloween, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and above all New Year's Eve hold high prices and sell out in advance, exactly like a night in August.

What else is celebrated in Mallorca in January besides Three Kings Day?

Sant Antoni, which is the great popular festival of the Mallorcan winter. It's celebrated on 16 and 17 January, with foguerons and torrades in villages all over the island — Sa Pobla and Artà are among the best known — and with the dimonis as the central figure. It runs in parallel with Palma's nightlife: a lot of people do the fogueró in their village and come down to the city afterwards.

Do I need to buy the ticket in advance to go out in Mallorca in winter?

It depends on the date. On an ordinary Friday or Saturday in the low season there is usually room and you can pay on the door without any problem. On the strong dates of the winter calendar — Halloween, the Immaculate Conception long weekend, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and Three Kings — advance sales run out just as they do in summer, so there it really is worth buying weeks ahead.
